True collectors talking about their game-worn equipment video
Posted by Chris

The folks at SCD are in the process of coming up with its latest online innovation, which has temporarily been delayed. So, instead of waiting for it to get finished, I wanted to share these videos that my friend Scott Harpt and Lou Lampson were part of, and added them to Youtube.com.

Scott has been collecting Brewers memorabilia for years and has compiled quite the collection.

Lou Lampson is one of the largest game-worn jersey collectors in the world. This video is one of about ten parts to the 30-minute long interview I did with him at Heritage Auction Galleries sale in May of 2007.

If anyone has any other collecting videos they would like featured on Gavel Chat, please let me know!

early into the video lampson says he will "never forget" seeing the patriots play the oilers on opening day at harvard field in 1962 - he adds that the day was sunny, the clouds were puffy...

but apparently lou has forgotten a few things through the years - the patriots played that game at nickerson field (boston university field) which they called home from 1960-1962, not harvard field... they didn't move to harvard until 1970.

still, the full interview should prove interesting - especially considering lampson doesn't seem to make himself readily available through the internet or other means...

btw did you happen to see the lampson authenticated "george blanda 1970-71 game used suspension helmet" currently listed at historic auctions? good grief.

Guys,
Please don't ignore the fact that Scott Harpt put together one heck of a nice collecting video. I didn't add these to just focus on negative aspects of the hobby.

Terrific Brewers collection by Scott. I like how he has really focused on a specific era and built an impressive collection around that. He's not just grabbing assorted stuff.

But too bad he's been forced to the basement, like so many of us. Time for a revolt to bring our cool stuff upstairs where it belongs!
