Wow! Phelps memorabilia going through the roof
Posted by Chris
Well, I guess my prediction about those Michael Phelps cards came a little bit quicker than I expected. Various examples on eBay sold for more than $1,000 last week. I guess I'm not all that surprised by this, but seeing a signed card by a current swimmer is still a bit to swallow for someone who thought Tiger Woods autographed cards were getting out of hand.

Speaking of the Olympics, is it just me or does nobody really care about the mens basketball team? I haven't been watching every single day, but I've probably watched about six total hours of the Olympics, and honestly, I haven't heard one thing about the USA b-ball team.
I guess everyone just assumes they are going to win gold... But, nothing is for sure.

One last thing, I'm pretty pumped to announce that I'll be holding another card show this year, after last year's that was such a great success. I did one last year in Green Bay as kind of an experiment and we had hundreds of people who attended.
This year, I'm teaming up with former Packer Tom Brown and his charitable organization, Lombardi's Titletown Champions to hold an autograph signing (with about 12 former Packers) and a card/memorabilia show Sept. 20 from 9am-2pm at Stadium View Sports Bar in GB.

Chris, is the Stadium View Sports Bar in Green Bay cigar friendly?

Heck yeah Joel! You coming? Should be a blast! So far we have T.S. O'Connell, Bob Lemke, Ball Four Cards, Waukesha Sports Cards, Tom Murphy, Jeff Whitmore (who is coming all the way from Virginia) and others. You and Bergy should come and set up.

I won't set up, but I may drive up to see my friend. You can't get The King of Commons to come? Be sure to remind me of the date a week before or so!

Isn't Bill Henderson up there in Wisconsin somewhere?

Not sure... T.S. will know. I'll ask him. We don't have that many tables left, out of a total of 30.

I think Bill Henderson is in Janesville. I met him a few years ago in Reading. A fellow UW-W grad and very nice guy.
