Montana and Kim sitting in a Heritage’s auction – K I S S I N G
Posted by Chris

joellve.jpegI usually don’t feel weird about items I see in an auction, but in Heritage’s upcoming Signature sale I was left feeling a little odd, kind of like I just watched a cheesy soap opera or something. CLICK HERE

Seems like HA’s consignor somehow got some really cool, early Joe Montana stuff, and in the batch was this lot of hand-written love letters. Hmm… I don’t think I’ll be going after this lot.

**************

After yesterday’s blog, it seems like Gavel Chat readers wanted a more thorough Sun-Times Show update, so here it goes:

Pictured here is my buddy Dennis Jose, owner of Chicagotix.com. He looks pretty darn happy in the photo and he should. His table was flooded with people the entire show, as they sifted through his selection of significant game tickets.

Former Global autograph authenticator Justin Priddy had a booth set up promoting his new company, Ace Authentic. According to a worker at his table, Priddy will be the only authenticator as of right now certifying autos for the new venture.

DSC_6238.JPGSpeaking of Global, GAI had a table set up and were offering different specials. It seems like the company is back on track after the issued they faced a few months ago.

Beckett was passing out their new magazine’s, which featured multi-sports pricing in the same publication, something Tuff Stuff has been doing for years.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog. I'll be getting a PSA label update from Joe Orlando. It appears the grading company has subtly changed the layout of the labels on its graded cards. I think it was just done in order to fit the half grades on the flips in a more eye-appealing fashion, but Joe will be calling me to address my questions.

Hey Chris: Good seeing you at the Sun-Times show. Mom likes the photo; so you did good. -- Funny, my memory of you shooting it is a little hazy though. I remember you bought me a Coke, that was cool, but after that my memories are a bit jumbled up. You didn't see anyone accidentally drop anything in that beverage, did you? -- I lived for several years near the Mexican boarder (US side, as I recall) and I heard all kinds of stories about young guys visiting Mexican pharmacies! Ever hear wild stories like that, buddy? Probably not, with the tight deadlines and clear-head that journalism and blogging requires. As a J-school grad (UW-Madison, ‘81) I salute you and your advancement of arts and letters. -- Hey, I just got a text message from Mom telling me there's something on your blog about Joe Montana sending me love letters?!? She says one of 'em is right next to my picture...how could I have missed you're breaking a story that big? Wow, I guess I'll be reading all about Joe and me in the National Snooper at the grocery check-out for weeks to come. -- Chris, I guess I should thank you for breaking The Story, it's mega-gonzo, etc., etc. but now that Hunter S. is gone, do we really need someone to pen Fear and Loathing at the Sun Times show?!? -- Just a second…the phone's ringing now...likely an offer from a big publishing house that wants to buy the rights to my tell-all book (and movie) love story, TITLE: Joe & Jose...More than XXX's and OOO's. I better catch the phone, buddy. Thanks a million! -- Dennis A. Jose …PS: I never would have believed it, Chris, if I hadn’t read it in your SCD blog!
