I don't even remember the exact year, but during my stint as a card grader with the "short-lived," SCD Authentic, we were fortunate enough to grade "The Florida T206 Find."
The reason I am writing about this now, is because I recently stumbled upon some of the images from this awesome collection.
If you don't remember the story behind this, what basically happened is a man in Florida bought a house, and found this enormous hoard of basically untouched T206 cards in the attic, including the Sherry Magee ultra-scarce error card.
Mr. Mint eventually landed the collection for one of his auctions and the rest is history.
I remember when people first heard about this collection, and that we were the grading company who the man chose, there were many skeptics and people who accused us of staging this "find."
I laughed at that because I met the guy and got to examine the cards first hand. I've never seen a group this large and this clean as these T206s were.

These images brought back a lot of memories for me. I wish I would have been able to own some of these gems.
I'm off to the Sun Times show Friday. I am hoping to get a chance to chat with Adrian Peterson, who will be signing autographs. It would be cool to get his take on collectibles and to see if he collects any of his own material.
I will at least get some good images to share with Gavel Chat readers. I will hopefully have something from the show posted by Monday.
